Mullingar Shamrocks Under-12 Boys – 2025 Season Wrap-Up
The Mullingar Shamrocks Under-12 boys have now completed their 2025 season — and what a fantastic year it’s been!
At this age level, it’s all about player development, retention, and building a solid foundation for Under-14 and beyond, and our coaches are delighted with how much this group has grown. The boys have matured, developed real skill, teamwork, and confidence, and represented the club brilliantly all year.
Since starting back on Saturday, 15 February, they’ve clocked up an incredible 48 training sessions, played 19 games, and taken part in 2 Blitz Days — a busy and rewarding season of football!
The team finished the year with a great final week of action:
On Monday evening, they travelled to Garrycastle GAA for the Shield Final of the annual Jim McHugh Memorial Tournament — an excellent event featuring 20 teams. On their journey to the final, the lads played some great football against Lilliput Gaels, St. Brigid’s (Roscommon), St. Manchan’s (Offaly) and Cill Óige.
The final itself was a special occasion — complete with a pre-match parade, national anthem, and individual player introductions — before an exciting, skilful, and hard-fought game against a strong The Downs GAA Club side. Huge thanks to Garrycastle GAA for the invitation and warm welcome, and to all our families and supporters who travelled to cheer on the lads.
The week concluded with our club hosting the Sean Dempsey U12 Festival of Football — the first Blitz Day held by Mullingar Shamrocks since COVID, and now set to become an annual event once again, run in partnership with StLomans Gaa. It was another brilliant morning of football between four of the county’s best Under-12 squads — Mullingar Shamrocks, St. Loman’s, The Downs, and Athlone.
Our Under-12 panel included: Nathan Naughton, Cian Gavin, Rogan Moore, Daniel Conaty, Conor Hogan, Dylan O’Reilly, Harry Gavin, Ethan Nally, Ryan Kelly, Liam Redden, Oisín Thornton, Adam O’Donoghue, Matthew Leavy, Tadgh Connnolly, Seaghan Óg Collins, Tom Frayne, Josh McNamee, Ainle Smyth, Cillian Keegan, Geoffrey Rogers, Stephen Cornally, Patrick Davitt, and Shea Ryan.
A huge thank you to Pat Collins for his excellent organisation on the day, and to the Dempsey family for their kind sponsorship of commemorative plates for the participating teams.
To our coaching team — Liam, Finian, and Greg — thank you for your dedication and effort throughout the year. And, to all the parents and families, thank you for getting the boys to training and matches, supporting them all season, and keeping them involved — they’ll appreciate it in years to come!
Finally, a very special word of thanks to Mr. Pat Collins, who works tirelessly behind the scenes organising fixtures, referees, pitches, buses, jerseys, and more. Pat’s efforts make everything run smoothly and are hugely appreciated by everyone involved.
It’s an exciting time for the club with three new pitches due to begin construction in Spring 2026 — a huge step forward for all our players and teams.
The Under-12s will now take a well-earned break before returning as Under-14s in 2026, ready to embrace the next challenge of full-pitch, full-rules football. The future is bright for this talented bunch of young Shamrocks!
