ACL Div.1 Mullingar Shamrocks 0-14 Tang 0-10

ACL Div. 2 Mullingar Shamrocks 0-6 Rosemount 4-12.

Our ACL Div. 1 team began the season with a good win against Tang.

Mullingar Shamrocks: Eoin Doran; Marc Eivers, Mat O'Shea, Dillon Matthews; Brendan O'Reilly, Brian Guerin, Pearse Corroon (Efe Siode); Paddy Fagan, Shane Ormsby; John O'Reilly (Alan Cashman), Dean Moore, Ryan Blundell (Davy Coyne); Jordan Warde, Denis Corroon,Trevor Keena (Lorcan Smyth)

The scoreboard didn’t look quite as well on a bitterly cold Springfield morning but that wasn’t the fault of our generous sponsors Home Instead. Nobody said it was going to be easy and it won’t be as our second team face the challenges of competing in the second tier on Westmeath league football. The consolation is that we are the only club with teams competing in ACL Div.1 and Div.2.

Rosemount were far too strong on Sunday morning and led by 1-9 to 0-2 at the interval, and added another 3-3 to their total after the interval. Some of Rosemount’s first half points were excellent scores with Matthew Cox, David Tone and Seán Conon particularly prominent. Despite the score conceded, there was some great Shamrocks defending, and one brilliant Seán Hynes save worthy of note. And the ageless and super fit, Gary Corroon began another season of Westmeath football.

Mullingar Shamrocks: Seán Hynes; Eamonn Breslin, Pearse Corroon, David Lane; Dylan Franzoni, Eddie Moore, Ryan Blundell (Ben Egan); Adam McCormack [0-1] (Nathan Cornally), Ciarán Kiernan; Niall Hannigan, Ollie MacNamara (0-2), John O’Reilly (William O’Reilly); Ross Corroon (0-1), Nathan Gavin (0-1), Luke McCabe [0-1] (Gary Corroon).
